A faster path-based algorithm with Barzilai-Borwein step size for solving stochastic traffic equilibrium models

Step size determination (also known as line search) is an important component in effective algorithmic development for solving the traffic assignment problem. In this paper, we explore a novel step scheme, Barzilai-Borwein (BB) size, and adapt it stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) The BB special scheme incorporated into gradient method to enhance its computational efficiency. It motivated by Newton-type methods, but does not need explicitly compute second-order derivative. We apply path-based algorithm solve two well-known SUE models: multinomial logit (MNL) cross-nested (CNL) models. Numerical experiments are conducted on real transportation networks demonstrate efficiency robustness of size. results show that outperforms current strategies, i.e., Armijo rule self-regulated averaging scheme.
